The two boys Jeff and David are on a lake in a boat heading to lost island. They make it to lost island and when they landed there dogs ran off exploring and they found a human foot. Jeff and Davids dad promised that he would take them to lost island on Davids thirteenth birthday. But Davids dad died before he turned thirteen because of a avalanche. So they went by themselves. There mom was a vet in town so she was gone a lot of the time and this allowed them to go to the island. They had a cousin named Claire but they dint invite her because they didn't like her dog Yum Yum. Claire found out that they went without her and she told her parents and her parents told Jeff and Davids mom
